Lead Java Developer

We're expanding our team and looking to bring aboard a Lead Java Developer to strengthen our organization. This position is well matched to a veteran engineer ready to take on full responsibility for demanding projects, shepherding them from the earliest concept stage through to final production launch. You'll contribute meaningfully to architecting and refining services that oversee complex investment data alongside distributed systems, where accuracy, dependability, and scalability are non\-negotiable. The role runs on a hybrid basis, with a requirement of four office days per week **Responsibilities** * Build, release, and support software solutions using Java and Spring Boot as the foundation * Produce robust, scalable APIs, microservices, and pieces of distributed system architecture * Oversee initiatives throughout the entire engineering lifecycle, from preliminary planning and development to launch and ongoing production care * Tackle intricate application and data\-related problems by delivering solutions designed for longevity * Actively contribute to architectural decision\-making, technical guidance, code assessment, quality assurance, and CI/CD pipeline setup * Deploy AWS and other cloud\-native tools to establish reliable, scalable system infrastructure * Collaborate with engineering, product, and business partners to produce effective, outcome\-focused technical solutions * Transfer knowledge and provide mentorship to fellow engineers to help build up their capabilities **Requirements** * Five or more years of hands\-on, practical experience developing with Java and Spring Boot * A minimum of one year leading and overseeing development teams * Demonstrated experience building APIs, microservices, and distributed system architectures * Wide\-ranging knowledge of software design fundamentals, testing techniques, performance optimization, and production stability * Significant experience working with SQL and relational database systems * Hands\-on experience with AWS or comparable cloud computing platforms * Awareness of event\-driven architecture concepts and tools such as Kafka * Strong problem\-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities, plus working English fluency at B2 level or above, facilitating accurate understanding of business requirements and their translation into technical output * Track record of independently driving technical initiatives while maintaining ownership from initial concept through to final delivery **Nice to have** * Experience within financial services, investment management, or capital markets industries * Knowledge of Corporate Actions and associated investment lifecycle functions * Practical experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, or equivalent technologies * Background in constructing or modernizing complex, large\-scale systems **We offer** * International projects with top brands * Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers * Healthcare benefits * Employee financial programs * Paid time off and sick leave * Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses * Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000\+ courses * Global career opportunities * Volunteer and community involvement opportunities * EPAM Employee Groups * Award\-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn *EPAM is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
